All substbenefits/effects/facts and information about tauroursodeoxycholic acid, better known as TUDCA, it is a bile salt naturally found in the body. When common bile salts reach the intestines, they can be metabolized by bacteria to UDCU and later bind to a taurine molecule to become TUDCA.

TUDCA is a water-soluble bile salt, which, in contrast to ordinary bile salts, attacks both water-soluble and fat-soluble ends and causes a cleansing effect. This is fine for the biological purpose of bile salts (they emulsify fats in the intestines to aid absorption), but when bile acids collect in the liver, a clinical stage called cholestasis that occurs when the liver is unhealthy, these bile salts damage cells by destroying membranes and they signal death to the cells. TUDCA and other water-soluble bile salts such as UDCA combat this toxicity and thus indirectly protect cells from death.
